SkinPen® Microneedling

Microneedling with SkinPen® is a collagen-stimulating treatment great for general skin rejuvenation. It treats textural issues dealing with pores, acne scars, wrinkles, tightening, and more.

Another name for this treatment is collagen induction therapy, because Microneedling helps to stimulate your skin to regenerate collagen. Microneedling also causes your skin to plumpen and thicken, ultimately reducing the appearance of scars, fine lines and other skin texture changes.

How does microneedling work?

Microneedling involves thousands of tiny needles puncturing the top layer of your skin. The needle pricks create an injury, accelerating both the production of collagen and healing. It is an ideal treatment if you want to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, brown spots, fine lines, and pigmentation. The treatment also works to improve the overall texture of your skin. While microneedling may sound painful, it isn’t, provided the area is first numbed. After your procedure, your skin may be a little pink, and you may notice a few puncture wounds, but these fade within a few days.

Is SkinPen® microneedling safe?

It’s considered safe for most people who are in overall good health. The procedure isn’t safe for people who use certain acne medications or for women who are pregnant. You’ll experience minor redness and irritation for a few days after the procedure.

Is there any downtime?

Microneedling is minimally invasive, requiring very little downtime. Expect redness or even pinpoints of bleeding on days one-three after the procedure. By day two, most patients look like they have a sunburn and they may be dry. The skin is usually fully recovered by day four after the procedure.

How often can I have microneedling done?

You can safely book your microneedling treatments every 4 to 6 weeks until you get the results you want. If your goal is scar reduction, you’ll likely need 3 to 6 treatments. For collagen induction, 3 treatments is a good starting point.
